How We Price

A freestanding bathtub can cost $900 or $9,000, and the difference is rarely nine times the tub.

Most of what you pay for a bathtub isn't the bathtub. It's the showroom floor it sat on, the distributor who warehoused it, the dealer who marked it up, and the brand that spent more on the catalog than the mold. We took those layers out. This page explains what's left.

What you're not paying for

A showroom. We don't have one. Physical retail is expensive — the lease, the display models, the staff, the samples that get replaced every season. Every tub sold in a showroom carries a share of that cost.
A dealer network. The usual path from factory to bathroom runs through an importer, a distributor, and a retailer, each taking a margin. We sell directly.
A marketing budget that outweighs the product. No print campaigns, no trade show booths, no celebrity partnerships.
Inflated original prices. We don't set a fictional "regular" price so we can advertise a permanent discount. Our price is the price. When we run a genuine promotion, it has a start date, an end date, and a real price on either side of it.

What you are paying for

The tub itself. Acrylic with reinforced backing, formed and finished to our specifications.
Hardware we chose, not hardware that came free. Drain and overflow in white on our modern tubs — most manufacturers ship chrome because it's the cheapest stock option, and most brands pass it along without asking whether it suits the tub.
A 5-year warranty on everything, including the hardware. Not five years on the shell and one year on the parts most likely to fail.
Freight delivery to your door, included. A palletized bathtub costs real money to move. It's in the price rather than added at checkout.
A warehouse in the United States. Your tub ships domestically, not from overseas after you order.

Where our tubs are made

Our freestanding tubs are manufactured in China, in factories we selected and to specifications we set. We choose the manufacturer, the acrylic thickness, the reinforcement, and the hardware — including white drain and overflow, where most brands accept the chrome the factory ships by default.

Gramans Bathware is a Florida LLC, run from Palm City. Your tub ships from a warehouse in the United States, and the email you send goes to the people who chose the tub.

We say where the tubs are made because you'd find out anyway, and because we don't think it's the disadvantage the industry pretends it is. Most acrylic freestanding tubs sold in the United States — including many carrying premium brand names at three times our price — come from the same handful of regions. What separates a good tub from a bad one isn't the country. It's whether anyone on the brand side did the work above, and whether they stand behind it afterward.

Our family has spent roughly fifteen years in bathroom fixtures, which is long enough to know what fails and what to ask a manufacturer before signing anything.

Why we publish every dimension

Most bathtub listings give you exterior length and nothing else. That's the number that fits in a headline, and it's not the number that tells you whether you'll be comfortable.

We publish interior length, interior width, and water depth on every model, because a 67-inch tub with thick walls and a steep slope can hold less bath than a 59-inch tub designed properly. Withholding that information sells more tubs. It also generates more returns, and returns on freight items are miserable for everyone involved.

We'd rather you bought the right one the first time.

What this doesn't mean

A lower price isn't a claim that everything more expensive is a ripoff. Cast iron costs more because cast iron costs more. Stone resin costs more. A tub built in a high-wage country costs more. Those are real differences and they're worth real money to the right buyer.

What we're saying is narrower: if you want a well-made acrylic freestanding tub, a meaningful part of the usual price is structure, not substance. We removed the structure.
